The Blackstone River, one of
14 American Heritage Rivers, flows between Worcester,
Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island. The John H.
Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor
tells the story of the river's role in starting New
England's textile industry and the American Industrial
Revolution. |

Your day begins at leisurely pace, with
coffee and muffins at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center
then view the award-winning film "Hidden in the Blackstone
Valley" which describes the Valley's history.y. |

the Blackstone Valley Bike Path |
|
Bike through history along the Blackstone
Valley Bike Path. Cycling from Cumberland to Lincoln pass by
historic mill villages, scenic farms, and the Blackstone
Canal, a former transportation canal. Rental bikes will be
provided by Blackstone Valley Outfitters and included in the
per person cost. |

Your cycling journey ends at the Captain
Wilbur Kelly House Museum in Lincoln, RI. Housed in a former
mill superintendent's cottage, an expert guide will bring
the Valley's canal era to life for you and take you through
fascinating exhibits that detail the valley's transportation
history.

After a short walk to the 295 Visitor
Center you will enjoy a picnic lunch and a Baskin Robbins
ice cream. Here you will rejoin your bus to get to the next
stop. |

River Cruise Aboard the Blackstone River Explorer |
|
End your summer afternoon with a relaxing
riverboat cruise aboard the Blackstone Valley Explorer as a
narrator tells the remarkable comeback story of this America
Heritage River whose powerful waterfalls turned the
waterwheels of the nation's earliest factories. Herons, fish
and other wildlife are returning to the shores and waters of
the river that once was heavily polluted during the height
of the industrial revolution. |
