The Blackstone River, one of 14
American Heritage Rivers, flows between Worcester,
Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island. The John H.
Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage
Corridor tells the story of the river's role in starting
New England's textile industry and the American
Industrial Revolution.

| Enjoy a cup
of fresh-brewed coffee on a relaxing river cruise aboard the
Blackstone Valley Explorer. Listen to the songs of migrating
warblers and finches while learning about the history of the
Blackstone River. The first polluted river in America, the
Blackstone has made an amazing comeback and once again a
variety of species such as herons, turtles, osprey and other
wildlife are returning to the shores and waters of the
river, which is part of the East Coast flyway for migrating
birds. |

| Your next
stop is the Captain Wilbur Kelly House in Lincoln, RI. You
will tour fascinating exhibits in the museum, housed in a
former mill superintendent's cottage, where an expert guide
will bring the Valley's canal era to life for you and enjoy
a quick stroll along a section of the canal towpath, now
part of the Blackstone Valley Bikeway. |

| Here in the
Valley we call it Chicken Family Style. A tradition that was
introduced to the Valley by Italian immigrants in the
1930's, we have several family-run restaurants that serve
this affordable, hearty meal. The meal consists of roast
chicken, salad, pasta and a potato dish. |

Audubon Society
of Rhode Island |
| Learn about
the many birds that make the Blackstone Valley their home
and hike the trails at ththe Powder Mill Ledges in
Smithfield, RI. This 120-acre site is home to the Audubon
Society of Rhode Island's headquarters. This wildlife refuge
has stands of pine, a pond, and brook. After a short hike,
you'll have a chance to visit their great gift shop with
something for every nature lover. |

| We'll end
our with a relaxing cup of tea in a quaint 1696 furnished
farmhouse. |
