The Blackstone River, one of 14
American Heritage Rivers, flows between Worcester,
Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island. The John H.
Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage
Corridor tells the story of the river's role in starting
New England's textile industry and the American
Industrial Revolution.

Your day begins at the Blackstone Valley
Visitor Center where you will view the award-winning film,
"Hidden in the Blackstone Valley." The movie provides an
introduction to the Blackstone Valley and why it is so
important to American history. |

10:30 am Discover
Another American Revolution |
|
Slater Mill Historic Site is where the
American Industrial Revolution began. Guided by a
knowledgeable costumed interpreter, you'll see how flax is
spun into linen, a waterwheel turning 19th century
machinery, and discover how this 19th century revolution
changed our daily lives. |

12:30 pm Lunch at
Dagget Farm and Ride the Oldest Loof Carousel |
|
Enjoy lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers at
Daggett Farm and visit the farmyard animals, floral gardens,
and a community vegetable gardens. After lunch take a ride
on the historic Looff Carousel. |

2:00 pm Witness
the Rebirth of a River |
|
Enjoy a riverboat cruise aboard the
49-passenger Blackstone Valley Explorer. Hear the remarkable
comeback story of this American Heritage River that once
powered the waterwheels of industry. Herons, ospreys, fish
and other wildlife are returning to the waters of the
Blackstone River. |

at Scoop-at-the-Falls |
|
End the day on a sweet note at this ice
cream shop, just a few minutes away from Central Falls boat
landing. |

We will travel to Wright's Farm Dairy in
North Smithfield, RI where you can enjoy (and take along) a
homemade baked treat from one of the Valley's best bakeries
located at a working dairy farm.
