A River's Story
|
The Blackstone River, one of 14
American Heritage Rivers, flows between Worcester,
Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island. The John H.
Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor tells
the story of the river's role in starting New England's
textile industry and the American Industrial Revolution.

| Your day
begins at leisurely pace, with coffee and muffins at the
Blackstone Valley Visitor Center then view the award-winning
film "Hidden in the Blackstone Valley" which describes the
Valley's history. |

Mill Historic Site |
| At Slater
Mill Museum you will explore three authentic historical
buildings and garden. Slater Mill interpreters dressed as
men and women of the 19th century - all eager to share their
knowledge of the period and the impact the Industrial
Revolution had on America. |

A River's Rebirth |
| Enjoy a
riverboat cruise of the Valley Falls wilderness area aboard
the Blackstone Valley Explorer. Hear the remarkable comeback
story of this American Heritage River that once powered the
waterwheels of industry. Herons, ospreys, fish and other
wildlife are returning to the waters of the Blackstone
River. |

International Flavor |
| Experience
the ethnic diversity of the local neighborhoods that
developed along the banks of the Blackstone River by dining
at one of our international restaurants. |

Stories in Stone |
| Your next
stop is the Captain Wilbur Kelly House in Lincoln, RI. You
will tour fascinating exhibits in the museum, housed in a
former mill superintendent's cottage, where an expert guide
will bring the Valley's canal era to life for you and enjoy
a quick stroll along a section of the canal towpath, now
part of the Blackstone Valley Bikeway. |

on a Sweet Note |
| We will
travel to Wright's Farm Dairy in North Smithfield, RI where
you can enjoy (and take along) a homemade baked treat from
one of the Valley's best bakeries located working dairy farm |
