The Blackstone River, one of
14 American Heritage Rivers, flows between Worcester,
Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island. The John H.
Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor
tells the story of the river's role in starting New
England's textile industry and the American Industrial
Revolution. |

Our first stop will be at the visitor
center where you will view the award-winning film, "Hidden
in the Blackstone." This movie will walk you through the
Valley's fascinating history. |

Slater Mill Historic Site |
|
At Slater Mill Museum you will explore
three authentic historical buildings, & garden. Here you
will meet Slater Mill interpreters dressed as men and women
of the 19th Century - all eager to share their knowledge of
the period and how the industrial revolution continues to
affect our lives today. |

Hearthside Manor |
|
Visit one of the finest examples of Federal
period homestead, hosted by period-costumed interpreters.
Hearthside was built in 1810 on pastoral Great Road, the
first road through the wilderness between Providence and
Mendon, Massachusetts, and one of the oldest thoroughfares
in America.

Lunch at Village Haven Restaurant |

Enjoy a Chicken Family Style lunch at the
Village Haven. This is a regional specialty that you will
find in the Valley. Your meal includes roasted chicken,
ziti, salad and French fries along a small beverage and
dessert. |

Museum of Work and Culture |
|
The contribution of French Canadian
immigrants to the Blackstone Valley has left a strong Rhode
Island legacy. See and hear their story. |

Wright's Dairy Farm |
|
End your day at the 100-year-old Wright's
Farm and Bakery. Learn the secrets of dairy production and
watch a cow milking demonstration. Enjoy a homemade baked
treat from the bakery. |
